Difference between quartzite quartz and granite

A lot of people get confused between quartzite quartz and granite, thinking some of them are the same, but it is not true.

So what is the difference between quartzite quartz and granite?

Quartzite

Quartzite is a metamorphic and hard rock that has been formed from sandstone. Sandstone is converted into quartzite through heating and pressure usually related to tectonic compression. It is a natural material and much harder stone than granite. Quartzite is an extremely hard rock that is not water or acid-soluble.

Quartzite in its purest form is white like marble, but it can have impurities and it leads to some incredible patterns and colors. Due to its beauty and strength, that’s the only countertop they would consider to install in their home or office. Quartzite is a decorative stone and may be used to cover walls, as roofing tiles, as flooring, and stair steps. It’s use for countertops in kitchens is expanding rapidly. It is harder and more resistant to stains than granite.

Pure quartzite is usually white to grey, though quartzites often occur in various shades of pink and red due to varying amounts of iron oxide. Becuase of other mineral impurities, sometimes it might have shades of yellow, green, blue and orange. Because of its hardness and angular shape, crushed quartzite is often used as railway ballast. Crushed quartzite is sometimes used in road construction. High purity quartzite is used to produce ferrosilicon, industrial silicasand, silicon and silicon carbide

Granite

Granite is an igneous rock, which means that it has crystallized and solidified from lavas molten state. Both granite and Quartzsite are natural stones. Granite is very durable, but quartzite is a harder stone. But granite is also very scratch resistant and naturally hard stone.

Quartz

On the other hand, quartz is not a natural stone; it is man-made material, so it has completely different features than quartzite or granite. Unlike granite, quartz has different look, and doesn’t contain the same veining as granite. Quartz is maintenance free material, since it’s already pre-sealed.
